Background and Education
Dr. John Coulter
Dr. Coulter and his wife Ashley were both born and raised in Knoxville and attended the University of Tennessee. Together they have five beautiful children. For his dental training, Dr. Coulter attended The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Coulter then completed a two year General Dentistry Residency and a one year Fellowship in Knoxville, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Following residency, he started Coulter Family Dentistry to serve the Knoxville community.
Dr. Anna Birch
Dr. Anna Birch was born and raised in a small town in southwest Ohio. She graduated dental school with honors from The Ohio State University (go Buckeyes!) and was awarded the American College of Dentists Outstanding Student Leader Award. She met Dr. Coulter in the General Dentistry Residency Program at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Although she is still a very dedicated Buckeye and loves meeting fellow Ohioan patients, she thoroughly enjoys being in Knoxville and singing Rocky Top!
Dr. Coulter and Dr. Birch have pursued advanced dental training at the nationally recognized Kois Center, Spear, and The Dawson Academy. They both have received fellowship designations within The Academy of General Dentistry, and Dr. Coulter has attained a Mastership designation from the Academy. They are proponents of lifelong learning, and achieve over 100 hours of continuing education each year.
Both doctors believe in the pursuit of dental excellence. They maintain memberships and are actively involved in several renowned dental organizations.
