Meet Dr. Coulter
Dr. John Coulter was born in Knoxville and raised a Vol fan. He met his wife, Ashley Robins Coulter in elementary school, they began dating while attending high school in Knoxville, and the rest is history.
Together, the Coulters have 5 children, Grayson (8), Callie (7), Caitlin (4), Claire (2) and Thomas (newborn). They enjoy exploring in and around Knoxville, are season pass holders at Dollywood, and love family beach trips. When it is not football season, Dr. Coulter enjoys making BBQ on his Big Green Egg and working on his 1978 Ford Bronco.
Dr. Coulter attended dental school at the University of Tennessee. He received additional training at UT Medical Center through the General Practice Residency where he was chief resident his second year and completed a fellowship in his third year. Dr. Coulter enjoys teaching and serves as adjunct faculty within the residency program at UT Medical Center.
Dr. Coulter is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, a board member of the Tennessee Dental Association, and a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American Dental Association. The Tennessee Board of Dentistry requires 20 hours of continuing education per year. Dr. Coulter is committed to lifelong learning and averages over 100 hours annually.
Meet Dr. Birch
Dr. Anna Birch was born and raised in a small town in southwest Ohio. She graduated
dental school with honors from The Ohio State University (go Buckeyes!) and was awarded the American College of Dentists Outstanding Student Leader Award. Although she is still a very dedicated Buckeye and loves meeting fellow Ohioan patients, she thoroughly enjoys being in Knoxville and singing Rocky Top!
When Dr. Birch isn’t doing dentistry, she loves playing frisbee with her 3 dogs (two border collies and a sheltie), watching college football, trying to improve her green thumb, and hiking in Smoky Mountain National Park.
Alongside Dr. Coulter, she considers herself a lifelong learner and is dedicated to continuing education. Not only does she continue to participate in a monthly journal club with the current UT residents and local dental professionals, but she is rapidly working toward her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and is currently a member of the Tennessee Dental Association and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Birch has a deep passion for connecting with her patients and strives to provide them with the best dental experience through fostering a soothing and supportive atmosphere. She loves meeting new people, and she can’t wait to meet you!

Leslie married her favorite ice cream maker, Chris (they worked together at Bruster’s Ice Cream), in 2016. Chris passed away in May of 2022 after a three-year battle of cancer. Leslie’s goal is to keep Chris’ name in the present and show his love to others. Chris was one of Leslie’s first patients in dental hygiene school and he told her once she was finished with his dental cleaning, “Wow, Les. You made my teeth feel like little, shiny pearls.” Leslie hopes to keep that feeling going for others.

Fun Facts
Dr. Coulter credits his love of cooking to mayonnaise. Back in middle school, his mom would always put mayo, which he hated, on all of his school lunches. Finally, he started packing his own lunches, and he got pretty good at it!
